Using limited typefaces, it was important to create a sense of mood, ambience and flow through altering the types weight, size and spacing. My formal approach is balanced and clearly communicated whilst avoiding monotony. The colours used add to my design without drawing away attention from my type. My informal approach utilises a much more altered body of type to create interesting compositions and a more complex flow. To add further distortion and a touch of the unpredictable, I transferred all the type by hand using a solvent printing method. I bound my concertina in a book cloth to lend it importance, provide protection and entice the viewer.
